Positron emission tomography

Diagnostics of civilization diseases

Our laboratory is the operator of the Biograph 6 apparatus from Siemens, which enables PET/CT examinations, ie the combination of classic computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET). This method provides information on both the structure and metabolism of organs and systems in the patient’s body. Performing a PET examination requires intravenous administration of a relatively low dose of ionizing radiation. The PET/CT scan is used mainly in oncology, but also to a limited extent in cardiology and neurology.

Accurate determination of the location and stage of neoplasm in the body

People who have been diagnosed with neoplasm often need a very quick and accurate diagnosis. Using our equipment for PET examinations, our patients receive:

  • Full-body examination and exact differentiation of changes, which allows you to determine the degree of local advancement and distant changes,
  • Research and description carried out by two specialist medical doctors within 10 days from the decision to perform the test.

Evaluation of the effectiveness of neoplasm treatment and early detection of possible remission of the disease

Our highly specialized PET examinations are extremely helpful for people who have had neoplasm. Due to the accuracy of the examination, which detects the smallest changes and the fact that the whole body scan is performed in the test, we have the possibility of:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the response to surgical and / or oncological treatment,
  • Detect recurrences and possible metastases at a very early stage.

Early detection of lesions

Due to the changes in civilization that occur in the modern world, the number of people diagnosed with neoplasm, neurological and many other serious diseases is growing rapidly. The use of non-invasive PET / CT imaging in diagnosing is:

  • Early detection of possible disease, and therefore drastically increasing the chances of effective treatment,
  • Research and description carried out by two specialist medical doctors within 10 days from the decision to perform the test.

The cost of performing the examination

The cost of the PET / CT examination depends on type of used radiopharmaceutical. The most commonly used radiotracer is fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) for which the cost of the examination is PLN 3,500. It is possible to use a number of other radiopharmaceuticals after individual cost arrangements.
