LOMiRT UMB Sp. z o.o., based in Białystok, invites researchers and clinical physicians to submit research proposals concerning the comparative assessment of the diagnostic value of PET/CT and complementary PET/MR imaging in selected clinical indications.
The initiative aims to generate comparative material supporting the assessment of the clinical value of PET/MR in selected clinical situations. It is also intended to support clinical education regarding the use of PET/MR and patient qualification for imaging examinations. The projects may also provide a basis for further scientific analyses and future publications.
Research model
Participation in approved research projects is limited to patients undergoing PET/CT at LOM Scan Sp. z o.o.
The complementary PET/MR examination will be performed immediately after PET/CT and will not require an additional administration of the radiopharmaceutical.
PET/MR imaging will be limited to the selected anatomical region corresponding to the clinical indication of the specific project. A full PET/MR examination will not be performed.
The additional PET/MR examination will be limited to the necessary minimum and should generally not exceed approximately 30 minutes.
Examinations performed as part of approved research projects will be free of charge for patients.
This model is intended to minimise the additional burden on patients and the time required for PET/MR imaging while providing comparative material for the assessment of both imaging methods.
What projects can be submitted?
We welcome proposals concerning the comparative assessment of PET/CT and complementary PET/MR, particularly in clinical indications where PET/MR may provide additional diagnostic value.
Project proposals may be submitted on an ongoing basis.
Each proposal should include at least:
- research objective;
- clinical rationale;
- description of the target population;
- patient inclusion and exclusion criteria;
- description of planned procedures;
- expected number of patients;
- identification of the scientific institution and research team
Researchers affiliated with any scientific institution may submit proposals.
Project assessment
Each proposal will be individually assessed by the Project Evaluation Team.
The assessment will take into account, in particular:
- clinical rationale;
- scientific value;
- organisational feasibility;
- expected operational burden
- compliance with applicable legislation;
- potential benefits for both parties.

A project may proceed following a positive assessment, agreement on the terms of cooperation and fulfilment of all applicable legal and formal requirements.
Depending on the nature of the project, a positive opinion from the relevant bioethics committee may be required. The project must also comply with requirements concerning personal data protection, medical documentation and participant consent.
Submission of a project proposal does not constitute an obligation on the part of the Company to establish cooperation, conduct the proposed project, provide project funding or enter into an agreement.
Duration of the initiative
Participation in research projects is planned until 31 March 2027 or until the pool of 200 examinations has been exhausted, whichever occurs first.
Invitation to collaborate
Researchers and clinical physicians interested in projects involving the comparative assessment of PET/CT and PET/MR are invited to submit research proposals.
We particularly encourage research teams from the Medical University of Białystok and collaborating institutions to contact us regarding projects in clinical areas where complementary PET/MR imaging may provide additional diagnostic value.
